About

Built in New Zealand, for the door you actually have.

iENTR is a New Zealand facial recognition access control and site sign-in platform that runs on iPad. It exists because the pricing and installation of access control has not evolved with the technology around it. Doors are still being specced as if every entry point were a prison gate, when most need an iPad, a mount and half an hour.

The founder's note

iENTR isn't my first experience in this industry, I've worked for a facial recognition access control company previously. I was young, I believed in the technology and I wanted to take it where it was clearly heading. Everything we shipped ran on Microsoft computers. Every time I pushed to put it on an iPad I got the same answer: that cannot be done.

I heard that answer for years, while growth stalled and promises quietly expired. Eventually I understood that the ceiling was never the technology. It was the willingness to rethink what was possible.

So I left and built the thing I was told could not be built. iENTR matches a face on an iPad in under a second, entirely on the device, sets up in half an hour and puts its price on a public web page. Every one of those decisions exists because someone once told me it was impossible.

I am a dad of three, I built this from New Zealand the best way I know how. If iENTR ever falls short of what this page promises, email me directly and I will fix it: josiah@ientr.com.
